September 14, 2012Weather StationWe decommissioned the old @gsyweather equipment on September 14, 2012 and are now using a Davis Vantage Pro 2 Plus, it is mounted on a 10m tower with the Anemometer mounted on a 5m pole to get the best possible data. The sensors fitted are: Rain Collector, Anemometer, Temperature and Humidity (located in a aspirated radiation shield), Solar Radiation and UV Radiation. All the sensors have been calibrated according to NIST Standards.
June 1, 2012Guernsey DatacenterOur Guernsey Datacenter houses our Windows HPC (High Performance Computing) servers running numerical weather prediction models. The network runs on Cisco Routers and Switches with a Fiber Optic backbone connecting our Guernsey sites. We have our own Stratum 0 Time server which is accurate to ±20NS. The datacenter is secured by an advanced multi-factor electronic access control system with intruder detection and fitted with 24 Hour monitored CCTV, environmental and fire alarms.
